Film Audience / Target Audience

Whilst researching about film audiences I have come to know that there are many groups and they are all to do with age:

 The age ranges break down as shown below:

- Kids 5-11 and moms

- Tween 11-14

- Teen 13-16

- 17-21

- 18-24 and 18-34

- 25-54

- 54+

After researching film audiences I have found out that thriller films are mainly aimed at teenagers and young adults. However statistics show that 'Action Thriller' & 'Supernatural Thriller' are the more popular subgenres when it comes to thriller film. However the physical poster of a thriller film does make in difference in the type of target audience the film is aimed at.


For example the picture below is from the film 'Fast Five'. The five main characters in the film are male as you can also see them in the poster. This is done to attract a more male audeince than female. 

 An example of a more female target audience is 'The Twilight Saga'. This physical poster of the film has the two main characters which is a male and a female. This however is more attractive to female's as it is shown that more males like a more spooky image.
