Props used in our Thriller

For our thriller a number of props will have to be used to give off the after party atmosphere. Also sticking with the theme knives, broken glass etc. are all semantic fields for our genre,

Some of the main props used are...

• Knives

Knives are a good prop in a horror film as they usually symbolise death or danger. In this case the knife is going to be important for us as this is the main characters weapon when killing his friends in the opening sequence. You would have to be extremely careful when using this type of prop. There has to be some provision and using a blunt knife will make the dangers much lower.

• Cigarettes

Cigarettes are also used in our Film. This creates a motif and also symbolises death in a creative way. and when someone in our character dies or a dead character is shown we will be directed back to the cigarette as a symbol of danger along with the Knife.

• Pots, pans and plates

Plates are another important aspect in our film. This is because when trying to recreate a party atmosphere we need to make the place look as messy as possible. The colour red is a symbol of danger and the scattered plates will create an after party atmosphere. if any glass is broken we would need to make sure that there is no danger and it is cleaned up.
