The film I have chosen to Analyse and Evaluate is the Thriller:
Phonebooth

This holiday and throughout my life I have always watched thrillers. I like the fact that a film can make you jump out your seat and entice you to watch while always leaving you guessing and contemplating the ending. The use of Mise-en-scene, sound, camera and editing. Out of the millions of Thrillers I have watched in my lifetime I decided to evaluate this film because the directer very cleverly used one place in the film and effectively. also I liked this thriller as a minimum use of characters was used. This allows us to sympathise with the characters in the film and identify the good from the bad.

Mise-en-scene is used very effectively in this Movie Phone Booth. This is because the director very cleverly used one scene and setting for the whole film and still managed to add suspense without it getting boring. The title reflects the whole film and Mise-en-scene is used to create suspense especially when the Colin Farrel wants to leave the phone booth however he is scared of the consequences.

Different camera angles are used to also create suspense and have us at the edge of our seats through out the whole film. Most of the film is filmed inside of the Phonebooth from a birds eye view. This ultimately gives us the thought that because Colin Firth is in danger the camera angle is directed in a certain way to show he has no power of the situation.

The ending of the film is very clever. As everyone starts to warm to the character we believe that the danger is over however the ending suggests otherwise. You see that the guy on the other end of the phone line is not dead however he is still alive and still has audacity to speak to Colin at the end. This sends shivers down your spine.
